Politico: “Republican operatives spent four years warning that the party needed to diversify — or risk a blowout at the ballot box. Donald Trump spent the campaign trafficking in divisive racial rhetoric — and he won anyway. Now, those who pushed for a more inclusive GOP fear that their party will absorb the wrong takeaways from Trump’s win, and that the momentum behind efforts to expand the Republican tent to include more minorities and young people has evaporated.”

CNN: “Ohio Gov. John Kasich voted Monday for 2008 Republican nominee John McCain instead of for 2016 Republican nominee Donald Trump.  Kasich wrote in McCain's name at the top of the ticket, Kasich spokesman Chris Schrimpf said, on his absentee ballot. Kasich ran against Trump for the Republican nomination, and has been a prominent holdout ever since dropping out of the race in May. He has long promised not to support Trump in November, but he had not previously said who he planned to support instead.”

USA Today: “GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence will have a chance to change the focus of the presidential campaign in his debate Tuesday night with Democratic counterpart Tim Kaine, who will try to keep the spotlight on Donald Trump. That dynamic could bring more viewers to the running mates’ only scheduled one-on-one exchange than had been expected before Trump experienced one of the worst weeks of his campaign, starting with his performance at the first presidential debate last week.”
