Jeffrey Nugent Says Brother Ted is Wrong on Background Checks

On June 28, 1928, the Democratic national convention in Houston, Texas nominates New York Governor Alfred E. Smith for president. The convention is the first held by either party in the South since the Civil War. Smith is also the first Roman Catholic to be nominated for President by a major US political party.
