National Journal: “If confirmed as the next head of the Treasury Department, White House Chief of Staff Jacob Lew will be tagging into an immediate three-round fight, with a long tournament ahead. On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers land at Galveston, Texas with news that the Civil War is over and that all slaves are now free -- more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The anniversary is still officially celebrated in Texas and 13 contiguous states as Juneteenth Day.
