On May 25, 1953, the first public TV station in the US officially begins broadcasting as KUHT from the campus of the University of Houston. KUHT-TV pre-dates the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the Public Broadcasting System (PBS), and will serve as a model for other educational TV stations throughout country.
