WashPost:  "China has more students at U.S. colleges than in any other foreign country. They numbered 157,558 [and] rarely attend state schools but congregate instead at top-tier - and very expensive - private colleges, a stark rejection of the egalitarian ideals that brought the Communist Party to power in 1949." 

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette:  "State Supreme Court Justice Joan Orie Melvin on Friday denied any criminal wrongdoing and said she will not resign from the bench.  Justice Melvin, 56, spoke after being arraigned on nine criminal charges filed against her for allegedly using her judicial staff to campaign for the high court from 2003 to 2009." 

WSJ:  "The stock had been widely predicted to soar on its first day. Instead, Facebook's underwriters battled to keep the stock from slipping below its offering price of $38 a share. Gallup: "Americans' expectations for their personal financial situations have recovered from the low point of four years ago, with 63% now saying they expect to be better off a year from now, up from 52% in late May/early June 2008. The 18% who say they will be financially worse off in a year is by one percentage point the lowest since 2003."
NYT: "The Obama administration has drafted some of the world's largest food and finance companies to invest more than $3 billion in projects aimed at helping the world's poorest farmers grow enough food to not only feed themselves and their families but to earn a livelihood as well."
WashPost: "Europe's economic woes escalated Friday as fears mounted over troubled Spanish banks and after the credit rating agency Fitch further downgraded Greece's debt, citing heightened concern the country may be forced to leave the euro." 
Politico:  "For the first time, racial minorities now represent more than half of the children born in the U.S., according to new census figures.  African-Americans, Hispanics and other minorities made up
50.4% of U.S. births in the year ending July 2011, accounting for 2.02 million births, up from 37% in 1990."
Former PA Governor Ed Rendell:  "To remain economically competitive, the US must have a 21st-century transportation system. Goods must move efficiently to market, and people must reliably get from their homes to their jobs or schools.  Our transportation network, however, has not kept pace with our exponential growth."
Gallup: "The United States has no shortage of great ideas and innovations. What the country most needs right now are highly motivated entrepreneurs who can turn those ideas into great businesses -- and thus create millions of new jobs. So says Gallup Chairman Jim Clifton in his book, ‘The Coming Jobs War.'"
