On April 26, 1917, I.M. Pei is born in Canton, China. In 1935, he moves to U. S. and eventually enrolls at MIT. After graduating, he joins Harvard Graduate School of Design. An architect, Pei takes the lead designing L'Enfant Plaza Hotel in DC, National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, JFK Library in Massachusetts, Dallas City Hall and the East Building of National Gallery of Art.
